I haven't read as much world lit this year, but I did finally read about some new countries (Taiwan and Haiti). I didn't mark my U.S. books this year, but I did make an individual map for my review of Born to Be.

Countries I Wish To Read More Of

Any country in South America- I grimace every time I see all that blank area on my book map there. I've been trying to gather more South American lit, but I haven't yet stumbled onto any more than The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende.

Australia- It's ridiculous that I haven't finished any of my books that are set there yet, but it appears to be the case. Maybe during this readathon?

Any country on the continent of Africa- I have 'traveled' there once this year (by book, of course) but I plan to find something more rave-worthy than my last read there...

I could also benefit from some more Canadian lit. I read Margaret Atwood, but otherwise... I don't read a lot of Canadian lit. That needs to change.

If you have suggestions for my 'want to read' countries, please list them below. Then hopefully during the next month of Kindle Daily Deals/thrift store shopping, I'll be able to find them.

                                               Happy Reading!

  1. I just finished If I Fall, If I Die by Michael Christie which is Canadian lit and it was amazing, highly recommended! Also I haven't read a lot of Australian lit either but Tim Winton keeps being recommended to me, and I'm planning to read some of his books soon! For Africa the only recommendations I can really offer are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie or Helen Oyeyemi, both Nigerian authors. Adichie is incredible, I've only read The Icarus Girl by Oyeyemi but I liked that. Your map is waaaay more spread out than mine!

    1. I'll have to check that out on Goodreads (oooh... there's a giveaway there for it too!). Thanks for the recs- my map is a result of years of book collection wherein I picked up whichever book looked the most exotic.
Thanks for stopping by and adding to my want-to-read list, Bex!

  2. I listed 3 Africa-set books in some of my favorites. Adichie is an awesome writer; and I'm quite smitten with her. Here's the list (includes Asia) http://guiltlessreading.blogspot.ca/2015/10/ttwibrat-my-favorite-books-and-authors.html

And if you get a chance, listen to Adichie's TED Talk here: http://guiltlessreading.blogspot.ca/2015/04/ted-talks-every-book-blogger-should.html

    1. I remember you posting that TED Talk post- I'll have to get around to watching it. I added Half of a Yellow Sun to my want-to-read list.
Thanks for stopping by and recommending your favorites, Guiltless Reader!

    2. I love this idea, I'm just so horrible about tracking reads by location. Half the time I don't know what US State a book is set in for the State challenge Im doing this year

    3. I'm pretty bad at tracking my challenges too, but I noticed if I do my month in review post and add sections for each challenge, I keep track of things better. The map gives me a visual reference to see where I'm slacking. ;)
